In their own words.
I started seeing Linda 3 years ago with acute and chronic shoulder pain which had been diagnosed by X-ray as Rheumatoid Arthritis. After 3 sessions Linda had worked out the pain and my left shoulder relaxed and was restored to a neutral place. I continue to be pain free with an occasional tune-up by Linda. I also had a 'bad knee' and hip from my days as a runner. Linda was able to lengthen my right leg so that my walk was balanced. Then she worked on my hip. The release was incredible! All that tightness and pain was released and I could walk pain free.
I have also experienced her Journey work. In three sessions, I experienced more trauma healing than with years of psychotherapy. Her work is very compassionate, direct and powerful. I have been able to find compassion and genuine forgiveness for my mother, not excusing her behavior, but honoring her own soul, and setting my soul free. This is wonderful work.
I first learned about Linda during the pandemic, when she started teaching an online Somatics class. One day, while walking in my neighborhood, I ran into an acquaintance who like me, has scoliosis. She mentioned she had started taking Linda's class and found that it was helping her stand straighter. She described these classes as being unlike anything she had ever taken before. I immediately signed up and have been working with Linda ever since.
At the time, I was working long hours at an extremely stressful job that required me to spend much of the day sitting at a computer. My back and neck were in tremendous pain, and it got so I could barely turn my head from side to side. I could never get comfortable and was getting very little sleep because of the pain. I was even worried that I might eventually have to stop driving because I couldn't turn my head.
Working with Linda over these past five-plus years has been truly life-changing. Over time, I have learned—and am still learning—to sense where I am holding tension in my body and to slowly release it through gentle, sensory movements and even through my imagination. More than anything, she has helped me develop a deeper awareness of my body and a greater understanding of how to listen to it.
Her passion for movement, along with her love of teaching and helping people feel better and more at ease in their bodies, is such a gift. I feel incredibly fortunate to have her as a teacher and mentor. I am deeply grateful for everything she has taught me and for the many ways her work has changed my life.
I've taken Somatic Muscle Release classes from Linda for over 5 years. At 78 years old, I attribute her SMR teachings to being able to move with more fluidity than many of my peers. In addition to the SMR classes, when I've had a specific ache or pain, her talents as a Trager practitioner have eased those aches and pains. Linda is a godsend… she has helped me in so many ways. I love her classes, I love her healing hands, I love Linda for her knowledge, passion and caring ways.
I can now see over the refrigerator!
Linda is amazing! Her yoga and somatic classes are not about postures or poses. In each class she chooses what we all need that day, and then adjusts the movements to fit what she sees we are able to do and what we need. Her observations of each individual student — even on Zoom — are very keen and helpful. Not really letting your shoulders relax? She will observe that and guide you through the movements that will lead you to a positive outcome.
I have worked with Linda for over six years. At first I just wanted to maintain my strength and flexibility as I age. Now I see that my posture has greatly improved, my muscles are stronger, I am more aware of how my body moves. And, through frequent practice I have established my own set of exercises that support me daily and prepare me for the continued improvement Linda offers.
I have participated in Linda's offers of Somatics, Trager and Journey. I love the twice weekly Strength and Somatics sessions. These have helped me resolve several muscular issues. Linda's voice as she guides us is transcendent and it would be wonderful if more people took advantage of this work. Individual work with Linda would be even more targeted and helpful.
The Journey process is both down to earth simple and pragmatic as well as magical in its deep self-discovery process. Trager massage is transformative beyond any other type of massage I have experienced.
I went to see Linda when the pain in my shoulders and upper arms was so bad that it was hard for me to sleep on my sides (I'm a side-sleeper). Linda listened thoughtfully to my symptoms and sensed very quickly what was at the heart of my problem. Her three-part recommendation was remarkably insightful: She showed me how my posture at a computer was a major contributor to my problem (I work at a computer all day). She taught me several simple arm and shoulder movements that I could easily practice at home and at work to relieve the pain, adjust my posture, and help my muscles heal. And she explained how working gently, patiently, and attentively with the movements would produce more lasting results than attempting to "muscle through" the pain impatiently, trying to force my body to get better faster than it could.
Long story short, after only a few days of practicing the movements Linda gave me, the pain was gone — I'm comfortably sleeping on my sides once again. And I'm learning how to have greater respect for and take better care of my body. Thank you, Linda.
The unexpected soulful peace that engulfed me, from the first somatic session with Linda Eisenman, and the release of full body arthritic pain — both of these were astounding. Linda barely touches you, and for some reason, the human body knows what to do. Your body will hear you, if you are quiet and listen. It will heal, if you let it.
After about ten sessions, I felt transformed and was able to make a few very difficult decisions that I had been wrestling with. I knew I would feel better, from the moment I met Linda, there was a complete trust around her and her little house. Somatic therapy with Linda Eisenman is a must do, in the grand scheme of wonderful things to do for your health.
